A chemical tanker overturned on the Charoti flyover in Dahanu taluka on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway on Thursday afternoon, spilling resin and disrupting traffic for about three and a half hours. The driver sustained minor injuries, while emergency teams used three cranes to remove the tanker and restore movement on the route.
The tanker was travelling from Gujarat towards Taloja when it overturned at around 2.30 pm on September 17, according to a report by Loksatta. Resin, a liquid material used in paint manufacturing, spilled across the flyover. Chemical experts cited in the report said the substance was not flammable.
The accident temporarily halted traffic on the flyover as a safety precaution. Vehicles were diverted to the service road while personnel worked to stabilise and remove the overturned tanker. The incident caused congestion on the highway for approximately three and a half hours, affecting traffic moving through the Dahanu area.
