Central Railway Announces Special Trains for Velankanni Festival

Central Railway has introduced four special trains to provide seamless connectivity between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Mumbai and Velankanni. These special services are scheduled to cater to the heightened travel requirements during the festival period.

Train 01161 will depart from LTT Mumbai at 13:00 hours on Monday, August 26, 2024. It is expected to reach Velankanni at 23:50 hours the following day. The train will be composed of 4 AC-III Tier coaches, 14 Sleeper Class coaches, and 4 General Second Class coaches, including 2 Luggage cum Guard’s Brake Vans, making a total of 22 ICF coaches. Train 01162 will return from Velankanni at 03:00 hours on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, arriving back at LTT Mumbai at 16:20 hours the next day.

Train 01163 is scheduled to depart LTT Mumbai at 13:00 hours on Saturday, September 7, 2024, with an expected arrival in Velankanni at 23:50 hours on the following day. This train will feature 2 AC-II Tier coaches, 4 AC-III Tier coaches, 10 Sleeper Class coaches, 1 Luggage cum Guard’s Brake Van, and 1 Generator Car, comprising 18 LHB coaches. Train 01164 will leave Velankanni at 03:00 hours on Monday, September 9, 2024, and is expected to arrive at LTT Mumbai at 16:20 hours the following day.

The special trains will halt at several key stations en route, including Thane, Kalyan, Pune, Daund, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Wadi, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Lonavala, Guntakal, Tadipatri, Cuddapah, Renigunta, Tiruttani, Katpadi, Vellore Cantonment, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Panruti, Tiruppadiripuliyur, Cuddalore Port, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Vaithisvarankoil, Mayiladuturai, Thiruvarur, and Nagappattinam.

Passengers planning to travel during the Velankanni Festival are advised to take advantage of these special services to ensure a comfortable and timely journey. The additional trains are a part of Central Railway’s effort to manage the surge in passenger traffic during the peak festival season and to enhance travel convenience for devotees and tourists.
