Road accident victims in Buxar can now receive cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh for seven days at 13 authorised hospitals, under a central government scheme announced by district transport officer Prashant Ramaniya on Thursday. People who take injured victims to hospital may also receive a reward of up to Rs 25,000 as Good Samaritans.
The scheme is intended to prevent financial concerns from delaying emergency treatment after a crash. Eligible victims do not have to make an advance payment at the empanelled facilities, according to details shared by the district transport office.
The authorised hospitals include Buxar Sadar Hospital, the Sub-divisional Hospital in Dumraon and community health centres in Brahmpur, Nawanagar, Simri, Rajpur, Chakki, Itarhi, Chaugain and Chausa. The Primary Health Centre in Kesath, Divyalok Chikitsa Kendra and Renefocare Dialysis Pvt Ltd are also included in the list.
Under the procedure, an accident victim should be taken to the nearest authorised hospital. Emergency services can be contacted on 112, or the police can be informed. Once the victim is admitted, a treatment ID is generated on the TMS 2.0 portal. Police then verify details relating to the accident, the vehicles involved and the victim.
The cashless provision places the first response at the centre of the scheme: getting an injured person to medical care quickly, before questions about payment or formalities can delay admission. Ramaniya urged residents to help road accident victims without worrying about legal procedures and asked people to spread awareness about the arrangement.
The announcement comes against a significant road-safety burden in the district. Government data cited in the report show that 112 people died and 65 were injured in road accidents in Buxar between January and September 2026. The district recorded 101 deaths and 101 injuries in 2021, followed by 107 deaths and 83 injuries in 2022.
Fatalities rose to 147 in 2023, when 106 people were injured. In 2024, the district recorded 120 deaths and 102 injuries, while 2025 saw 155 deaths and 79 injuries. Overall, 742 people were killed in road accidents in Buxar between 2021 and September 2026, according to the government figures cited.
Alongside the treatment scheme, the district administration advised motorists to wear helmets and seat belts, avoid drunk driving and not use mobile phones while driving. The immediate implementation steps are the generation of treatment IDs after admission, police verification of accident details and wider public awareness of the 13 authorised facilities.
