Bihar Chief Minister has directed the Rural Works Department (RWD) to launch the CM Bridge Construction Scheme. The initiative is set to improve connectivity across rural areas by constructing and upgrading roads and bridges.
During a review meeting held at the Chief Minister’s official residence, which was attended by key government officials including the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, the Water Resources Department Minister, and the RWD Minister, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of high-quality infrastructure. “Quality roads are essential for the smooth and efficient movement of vehicular traffic. I assure you that there will be no shortage of funds for the construction of high-quality roads and bridges in our state,” the Chief Minister stated.
The meeting, which also included principal secretaries, the Additional Chief Secretary of RWD, and senior finance officials, focused on addressing the current state of rural roads. The Chief Minister stressed the need for timely construction to connect isolated habitations, known locally as ‘tolas,’ to main villages. He instructed the RWD to conduct a comprehensive survey of existing rural roads to identify those requiring reconstruction, strengthening, or upgrading. Additionally, the Chief Minister called for urgent repairs to damaged roads and the timely completion of ongoing infrastructure projects.
The RWD’s Additional Chief Secretary provided a detailed presentation on the status of current road projects, highlighting progress and identifying gaps. The Rural Development Department also submitted a report on remaining ‘tolas’ that still need road connections, outlining various schemes, financial statuses, and future infrastructure needs. The Chief Minister’s commitment to this new scheme underscores the administration’s focus on enhancing rural connectivity and infrastructure development. By prioritising road construction and maintenance, the state aims to improve accessibility and foster economic growth in its rural regions.
