The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a comprehensive list of emergency helpline numbers, along with contact details for all 21 zone officers, to provide public assistance during potential disasters. This initiative is part of BMC’s intensified efforts to bolster disaster control mechanisms as heavy rains and potential flooding loom on the horizon.

A central emergency control room has been established at the fire brigade headquarters in Yatayat Park. This strategic decision was directed by BMC Commissioner Harendra Narayan, who emphasised the importance of preparedness in effectively managing monsoon-related emergencies and providing timely assistance to citizens. According to an official BMC press release issued on Monday, Fire Officer Rameshwar Neil has been appointed as the main emergency control room in charge and nodal officer. He can be contacted at 9424499593 for immediate assistance.

The main emergency control room is accessible through the following telephone numbers 0755-2542222, 2540220, and 2701401. Additionally, a secondary control room has been set up at Mata Mandir, under the supervision of Transport and Traffic Management Officer Chanchalesh Girhera, who is reachable at 9425149028. All emergency control rooms, including the primary facility, will operate on a 24-hour basis, ensuring continuous readiness. Officers and employees will work in shifts to maintain uninterrupted service. Zone-level control rooms have also been established across all BMC zones, where zonal officers will deploy their teams and coordinate with cleanliness in-charges as required. They will also assign duties to other employees based on situational demands.

This proactive approach underscores BMC’s commitment to mitigating the adverse impacts of the monsoon season.
