Bengaluru will host the Indian senior men’s football team’s international friendly against Panama on September 26, bringing a World Cup-playing side to the city for a high-profile fixture at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The fixture was confirmed by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), with the Sree Kanteerava Stadium selected as the venue during the FIFA Men’s International Match Window. It will be India’s first appearance in Bengaluru since the 2023 SAFF Championship, when the national side won the tournament after defeating Kuwait at the same stadium. Panama provides a substantially stronger test than a routine international friendly. The Central American team is ranked 44th in the FIFA world rankings and featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. For India, the encounter will be an opportunity to test its competitiveness against a team with recent experience at football’s biggest international tournament. The timing also makes the Bengaluru fixture important. The Panama match comes one week before India’s scheduled meeting with five-time world champions Brazil in Kolkata on October 3. For Bengaluru, the return of the national team has significance beyond the match itself.
