A case has been registered at Kadugodi Police Station after a woman alleged that a fellow passenger secretly filmed her without consent while travelling on a Namma Metro train near Whitefield in Bengaluru, with police investigating the incident reported on Tuesday afternoon.
The woman said the alleged filming took place at around 4.30 pm near Kadugodi. She later shared a video on social media in which she claimed that she caught the man recording her and confronted him on the train.
“I am literally shaking right now. I caught a guy red-handed, recording me in the metro,” she said in the video, describing her distress after allegedly discovering the recording.
According to her account, she asked the man to unlock his phone and show its contents. She alleged that he took the phone back after she sought assistance from Metro security personnel and then fled from the scene.
The woman said she initially approached Metro authorities to report the incident before going to the police. An FIR was subsequently registered at Kadugodi Police Station. The police investigation is underway, and the report does not establish whether any recording was recovered from the passenger’s phone.
The incident places attention on how complaints involving passenger privacy and personal safety are handled inside a rapidly expanding urban public-transport system. Namma Metro trains and stations are used by large numbers of commuters across Bengaluru, making the first response by on-ground security staff and the coordination between Metro authorities and police important in cases reported by passengers.
The woman’s social-media account describes an immediate confrontation inside the train and an attempt to involve Metro security personnel. However, the available report does not provide details of the specific train, the passenger’s identity, the sections of law invoked in the FIR, or whether CCTV footage and other evidence have been examined.
Police are continuing their investigation into the allegation. Further details are expected from the authorities as the case progresses.
