Baramati Water Supply Cut to Alternate Days as Canal Rotation Stops

Baramati water supply will move to an alternate-day schedule from 18 October after the Nira Left Bank Canal rotation was stopped, leaving the town with limited available water, according to the Baramati Municipal Council. Regular supply will continue until 17 October in Baramati city, Rui and surrounding rural areas.

The municipal council said alternate-day supply will remain in force until the canal rotation resumes. It has asked residents to use the available water carefully during the restriction period.

Under the schedule announced by the council, water will not be supplied on Sunday, 18 October, to a large group of areas including MHADA Colony, Mujawar Wada, Devale Estate, Pangalli, Samarthnagar, Amrai, Siddharthnagar, Vitthalnagar, Suhasnagar, Chandramaninagar, Wadar Society, Core House, Indapur Road, the ST Stand area, Satwajinagar, Jawaharnagar, Post Road, Hambir Bol, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg, Cinema Road and Vijaynagar.

The Sunday no-supply list also includes Sai Ganesha Nagar, Akalpit Society, Ashoknagar, Anandnagar, Mayureshwar Apartment, Bhigwan Road, Vasantnagar, Avadhutnagar, Wheel Colony, Tapovan Colony, Vivekanandnagar, Avchat Estate, Christian Colony, Mahadev Mala, Sadgurnagar, Patangshahnagar, Medad Road, Kshatriya Nagar, Shravan Galli, Koshthi Galli, Tandulwadi Ves Chowk, Siddheshwar Galli, Marwad Peth, Mahavir Path, Burud Galli, Nevase Road, Subhash Chowk, Kasab Galli, Kacheri Road, Bayajinagar, Gaothan, Sainagar, Green Pan and the entire Rui area.

On Monday, 19 October, water will not be supplied to the entire Kasba area, Phaltan Road, Renukanagar, Mulla Vasti, Teachers Society, Lakshminarayan Nagar, Malegaon Road, Hanuman Nagar, Malegaon Colony, Satav Vasti, Shivajinagar, Jamdar Road, Karbhari Nagar, Savatamali Nagar, Shriramnagar, Chandni Chowk, Panchsheel Nagar, Sathenagar, Jagtap Mala, Old Morgaon Road, Khandobanagar and the entire New Morgaon Road area.

The municipal council’s announcement links the restriction to the stoppage of the Nira Left Bank Canal rotation, which has reduced the water available for Baramati and nearby settlements. The notice does not specify when the canal rotation will restart or provide details of the remaining stored water. Supply arrangements beyond the listed areas were also not detailed in the announcement.

The immediate impact will vary by neighbourhood because the affected areas have been divided across different supply days. Residents in the listed localities will need to plan household storage around the municipal schedule until canal water becomes available again. The council said the alternate-day system would continue until the Nira Left Bank Canal rotation resumes.
