AP Clears Two-Day Holiday for MPTC, ZPTC Elections

The Andhra Pradesh government has declared holidays on November 4 and 5 to facilitate voting in the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections, with polling scheduled for November 5 and counting set for November 7.

The State Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department issued orders covering government offices, private establishments and educational institutions connected with the polling process. Officials have been directed to take appropriate measures to implement the holiday order.

November 4 has been designated for polling arrangements, while November 5 is the polling day, according to the report. The measure is intended to enable people to come forward and vote in the elections to the rural local bodies.

The announcement follows the completion of the municipal elections in the state. The MPTC and ZPTC elections are the next stage in the local electoral schedule, with polling arrangements now being put in place across the districts covered by the process.

The final list contains 46,045 nominations for 9,829 MPTC seats across 28 districts. For the ZPTC elections, there are 4,770 nominations for 659 seats. These figures indicate the scale of the election exercise and the number of constituencies for which administrative and polling arrangements are required.

The holiday applies to establishments connected with polling, and the department has asked officials to ensure that necessary arrangements are made. The state’s election schedule provides for polling on November 5 and vote counting on November 7.
