US drugmaker Amneal Pharmaceuticals has inaugurated a ₹135-crore administrative office in Ahmedabad, adding 3.35 lakh square feet of corporate infrastructure that can accommodate around 1,200 employees and support the company’s research, development, manufacturing and business operations in India.
The new facility brings key teams together as Amneal expands its global operations across the US, India and Ireland, the company said in an official release. The Ahmedabad office is intended to improve collaboration among teams working on complex generics, injectables, specialty medicines and biosimilars.
“This new Ahmedabad office reflects Amneal’s continued investment in the people and capabilities that support its global business. India is an important part of our network, complementing our significant and growing US manufacturing footprint,” said Chirag Patel, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Amneal.
The office inauguration forms part of the company’s larger investment programme in Gujarat and across India. In October 2024, Amneal announced a net investment of $150 million to $200 million over four to five years to establish two greenfield manufacturing facilities in Ahmedabad. One plant is planned for peptide synthesis and the other for advanced sterile fill-finish manufacturing.
The proposed manufacturing projects are intended to expand Amneal’s ability to develop and produce complex medicines for Indian and international markets. The company said it had invested approximately $600 million in India over the past decade.
Amneal began operations in India in 2008 and currently operates eight manufacturing sites. Five of these facilities are in Ahmedabad, while the company also has plants in Dahej, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. Its India network additionally includes a commercial office in Mumbai.
The concentration of corporate, research and manufacturing functions in Ahmedabad links the new office to the city’s established pharmaceutical and industrial base. The company’s India operations now cover administrative work, research and development, manufacturing and commercial activities, creating a wider institutional footprint beyond individual production sites.
“Our colleagues in India play an important role in advancing Amneal’s research, development, manufacturing and business operations,” said Chintu Patel, co-founder and co-chief executive officer.
Amneal’s global portfolio includes complex generics, injectables, specialty medicines and biosimilars. In August 2026, the company acquired Kashiv BioSciences, a move that expanded its biosimilar development and manufacturing capabilities. The company’s latest office investment comes as it continues to build out those capabilities through its India operations.
