KEC International has secured ₹2,872 crore in orders from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) to design, supply and install 765 kV transmission lines linked to the evacuation of 8.5 GW of renewable energy from Gujarat.
The RPG Group company said the turnkey orders represent the largest-ever order for its India Transmission and Distribution (T&D) business. The contracts cover the design, supply and installation of high-voltage transmission lines for PGCIL, the state-owned company responsible for developing and operating much of India’s inter-state transmission network.
With the latest wins, KEC International’s year-to-date order intake has crossed ₹13,500 crore, according to a company statement. Orders from the T&D business account for ₹9,500 crore of that total.
The projects are part of the transmission infrastructure required to move electricity generated from renewable-energy projects in Gujarat to the wider grid. The company said the 765 kV projects would support the evacuation of 8.5 GW of renewable power, although the statement did not specify the individual project locations, construction schedule or expected commissioning dates.
Vimal Kejriwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KEC International, said the PGCIL orders included the largest-ever order for the company’s India T&D business. He said the projects had substantially expanded KEC International’s India T&D order book.
Transmission capacity is a critical component of renewable-energy expansion because electricity generated in resource-rich areas must be carried to demand centres through the inter-state grid. The scale of the Gujarat-linked assignment places the latest order within that broader infrastructure requirement, while the company’s disclosure links the specific contracts to 765 kV transmission lines.
KEC International described itself as a global infrastructure Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) major. The company’s latest order intake figures include projects across its businesses, with the T&D segment contributing the largest disclosed share. The statement did not provide a project-wise breakup of the ₹2,872 crore order or details of the procurement and execution timetable.
The company’s announcement establishes the award value, the contracting authority, the voltage level and the renewable-energy evacuation capacity associated with the projects. Further details on construction milestones and the operational date of the transmission lines will depend on subsequent project disclosures from KEC International or PGCIL.
