Air India Express has introduced a new travel offering with the launch of special Xpress Lite fares, available exclusively on the airline’s mobile app and website. This strategic initiative aims to cater to passengers who prefer a simplified and cost-effective travel experience, particularly those opting to travel without check-in baggage.
The Xpress Lite fares, touted as a game-changer, offer travellers the advantage of lower fares compared to regular pricing. To further enhance the convenience for passengers, Air India Express introduces Xpress Check-In, allowing flyers to bypass queues at counters and baggage belts. Passengers opting for Xpress Lite fares enjoy a complimentary +3 kg cabin baggage allowance in addition to the option to pre-book check-in baggage allowances at significantly discounted rates for +15 kg and +20 kg.

In an effort to provide maximum flexibility, travellers on Xpress Lite fares can pre-book an additional 3kg cabin baggage during the booking process or later through the ‘Manage’ or ‘Check-in’ sections of the airline’s website or mobile app. Should the need for check-in baggage services arise later, passengers can conveniently opt to pre-book additional ‘check-in baggage’ allowances at discounted rates for 15 kg and 20 kg excess baggage slabs. Alternatively, check-in baggage services can also be purchased at the airline’s counters at the airport.
Speaking about the launch of the new Xpress Lite fares, Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India Express, said, “The launch of Xpress Lite fares heralds what we hope will be a new way to fly in India, extending a proposition already popular amongst flyers across the world, including international airlines flying to and from India. It underscores our dedication to continue to push the envelope, introducing best-in-class offerings for Indian flyers, offering frictionless journeys, and reaffirming our brand ethos of ‘Fly As You Are’. Xpress Lite Fares across our domestic and international network have the potential to redefine convenience in air travel while delivering exceptional value.”
Air India Express remains committed to offering a tailored travel experience, extending beyond the introduction of Xpress Lite fares. The airline provides a range of services, including the International Connecting Baggage service, which allows passengers traveling on its network and connecting internationally with any airline to pre-book excess baggage at a significant discount.
This move by Air India Express reflects a strategic approach to meet the evolving preferences of modern travellers, offering not only cost-effective solutions but also a customisable travel experience. The Xpress Lite fares signify the airline’s dedication to providing passengers with options that align with their individual travel needs, setting a new standard for streamlined and customer-centric air travel in India.
