Air India Express Launches Daily Flights from Kolkata to Port Blair

Air India Express has officially launched daily flights from Kolkata to Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram), marking a significant milestone in its network expansion. The inaugural flight departed from Kolkata at 5:40 am, offering a direct connection to the picturesque Andaman Islands. This new route is aimed at enhancing connectivity and promoting regional growth, with the airline planning to introduce a second daily flight starting December 15.

The launch event at Kolkata Airport was a vibrant celebration, with decorated check-in counters, distribution of sweets, and the ceremonial presentation of boarding passes to passengers. The airline expressed excitement over this new route, emphasizing its role in improving travel options for those heading to the tropical paradise.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) supported the initiative, highlighting the role of infrastructure and safety in ensuring smooth operations for the new route. The expansion reflects Air India Express’ growing presence in the region, as the airline has also increased its services from Kolkata and Bagdogra by 37% this winter season, offering over 230 weekly flights. Air India Express is a subsidiary of Air India and a part of the Tata group, with a fleet of 90 aircraft connecting 36 domestic and 15 international airports. The airline also recently introduced new flights from Bengaluru and inaugurated Jammu as a new destination, demonstrating its commitment to improving regional and international connectivity.
