Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority Unveils Ambitious Rs 1,705.42 Crore Budget for FY 2023-24

In a ground-breaking move, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has presented a transformative general budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, crossing the unprecedented threshold of Rs 1,700 crore with a total outlay of Rs 1,705.42 crore. This historic budget underscores AUDA’s commitment to elevating the region’s infrastructure, setting the stage for comprehensive urban development initiatives.

At the core of this visionary budget is the allocation of funds for 10 strategically planned flyovers along the SP Ring Road, strategically addressing traffic congestion and improving connectivity. With a focus on vital civic amenities, AUDA has earmarked substantial resources for ensuring drinking water supply to 55 villages, aligning with the Jal Jivan Mission. The initiative encompasses the construction of trunk main lines, underground sumps, pump houses, and water treatment plants in key areas such as Telav, Jaspur, Bagodara, and Kadadara Head Works.

AUDA’s commitment to holistic urban development is further emphasised through a meticulous 20-year plan for Ahmedabad’s infrastructure. This forward-looking strategy addresses not only immediate concerns but also long-term challenges, including environmental sustainability. A global tender has already been initiated for a comprehensive report on this strategic plan, slated to be finalised within six months. To bolster connectivity at crucial junctions, AUDA has actively undertaken the construction of three underpasses at Kamod junction, Mumatpura crossing, and Science City. Additionally, a significant announcement includes the development of 10 new flyovers and a 7.28 km VIP road from Shela to Sanskardham, collectively amounting to Rs 350 crore in investments.

The budget’s multifaceted approach extends to drainage, stormwater management, and sewage treatment, addressing existing infrastructure concerns and introducing new lines and plants. Noteworthy projects include repairs to the existing 20.5 MLD sewage treatment plant at Sanand. Ongoing housing projects and the allocation of funds for lake development, including Gadhia Lake at Sanand, Rancharda Lake, Unawa Lake, and Jetalpur Lake, emphasise AUDA’s commitment to community well-being
