A fire broke out at Ahmedabad’s Urban Chowk food market on Rajpath Rangoli Club Road at around 8 pm on October 29, spreading from a chaat stall to a nearby momos outlet and another food outlet, according to a report by Divya Bhaskar. No casualties were reported.
The fire department sent about three vehicles from Bopal Fire Station to the market after receiving information about the incident. Divisional Fire Officer Swastik Jadeja also reached the site as crews began firefighting operations.
The blaze initially broke out at a chaat food stall and quickly spread across the outlet before reaching the adjacent momos outlet. The fire department used water to bring the flames under control. The report said that three outlets in total were affected.
Urban Chowk is a food market on Rajpath Rangoli Club Road with more than 50 food stalls. The concentration of multiple cooking and serving outlets in one market creates a busy operating environment for both visitors and emergency responders, although the supplied report does not identify the cause of the fire or assess damage to the individual stalls.
The incident occurred while a large number of people had gathered at the market because of Karwa Chauth. The presence of a substantial crowd during the fire response added to the urgency of the operation, while fire crews worked to prevent the flames from spreading further between adjoining outlets.
The report did not mention any injuries or deaths. It also did not provide details about property losses, the condition of the affected outlets, whether the market was evacuated, or whether any inspection would follow. The fire department’s immediate response from Bopal Fire Station brought the blaze under control, according to the report.
