Ahmedabad traffic diversion plans will affect commuters on 5 November, with the main road from Chandkheda to the IOC area scheduled to remain closed for 12 hours during the inauguration of the Motera police station. According to a report by Gujarat Samachar – Ahmedabad, the restriction will run from midnight, 00:00 hours, until noon, 12:00 hours, following a notification issued by the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner.
The closure will cover the stretch from Chandkheda Char Rasta to the Gujarat Housing Board AMTS bus stand three-road junction towards IOC. The order will apply to all private vehicles using the route. Government vehicles associated with the inauguration, ambulances and fire brigade vehicles will be allowed to pass, according to the report.
The restriction has been announced to manage the movement of VIP and VVIP vehicles linked to the police station inauguration. The affected road is described as a busy route that normally carries regular traffic. Its closure during the festive shopping period is expected to place additional pressure on connecting and internal roads in the area.
Commuters travelling from Chandkheda towards IOC have been directed to use an alternative route. From Chandkheda Char Rasta, vehicles will have to travel towards Zundal Circle and turn left near Satyamev Hospital. They will then proceed through Kadi Nagarik Bank Char Rasta, take another left turn and continue towards IOC Road.
The diversion is expected to increase travel distances for people who normally use the direct Chandkheda–IOC route. Residents, office-goers and other private vehicle users will need to account for the additional movement through the alternative corridor during the 12-hour restriction. The report also said that local residents and employees had expressed anger over the closure of a heavily used main road.
The notification provides exemptions for emergency services, but the supplied report does not specify whether public buses other than vehicles connected with the event will receive any separate exemption. It also does not provide details of traffic-management personnel, temporary signage or the expected restoration process after noon.
The Ahmedabad Police Commissioner’s restriction is scheduled to remain in force only from 00:00 hours to 12:00 hours on 5 November. Commuters using the Chandkheda, Zundal Circle, Satyamev Hospital, Kadi Nagarik Bank and IOC Road corridors will need to follow the announced diversion during that period.
