Ahmedabad to Launch AI Complaint App

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has invited tenders for the creation of an advanced, mobile-based Comprehensive Complaint Redressal System (CCRS).

The ambitious project is set to overhaul the way civic complaints are managed, analysed, and resolved in one of India’s fastest-growing urban centres. This upcoming mobile application, which forms the core of AMC’s latest e-governance push, will integrate cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, geo-tagging, and social media data mapping. The initiative aims to drastically improve the transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness of the civic complaint redressal mechanism. At present, around 80 percent of complaints to AMC are routed through its call centre, many of which lack critical location data — a gap that the new system is specifically designed to address.

Under the tendered mandate, the selected agency will be tasked with implementing automatic geo-tagging of complaints received not just through the mobile platform but also those registered via the existing call centre infrastructure. This feature will allow AMC to spatially visualise complaint patterns across wards and localities, enabling more data-driven decision-making at the municipal level.
Another key enhancement proposed is the integration of artificial intelligence tools into the system’s backend. These tools will power advanced analytics, real-time dashboards, and predictive modelling, enabling AMC to pre-emptively address recurring civic issues and identify emerging hotspots of complaints before they escalate into larger public concerns. AI-driven insights will also help optimise the allocation of field resources, ensuring quicker turnaround and reduced public dissatisfaction.

To reduce load on traditional communication channels and to meet the behavioural shift of citizens engaging online, the CCRS will also feature seamless integration with major social media platforms. This means complaints lodged via Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms will be automatically logged into the system, thereby expanding the reach and inclusivity of civic engagement.
More than just a tech upgrade, the initiative is a strong move in favour of eco-conscious and sustainable city planning. By eliminating physical paperwork, reducing back-and-forth communication loops, and enhancing digital governance infrastructure, the CCRS aligns well with the vision of making Indian cities greener, more equitable, and more citizen-centric. The mobile-first approach is expected to empower a wider demographic — including women, senior citizens, and differently abled residents — to register grievances from the convenience of their homes, at any time.

While the deployment timeline is yet to be finalised, the tender marks a clear intent by the AMC to build a more sustainable, tech-integrated, and accountable civic administration. The success of such a platform could well serve as a model for other Indian cities grappling with rising urban challenges and the increasing demand for transparent public service delivery. As cities evolve into smarter living ecosystems, such efforts are not just about technology — they’re about building trust, ensuring fairness, and delivering civic dignity to every resident.
