Ahmedabad: Intensifying monsoon activity across Gujarat has prompted authorities to strengthen weather preparedness as rough sea conditions along the state’s western coastline coincide with forecasts of widespread heavy rainfall. While high-wave warnings remain concentrated along the Dwarka coast, Ahmedabad is expected to witness sustained rainfall over the coming days, placing renewed focus on urban drainage, flood preparedness and climate-resilient civic infrastructure.
The Ahmedabad Monsoon Alert comes as multiple weather systems, including a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal and an offshore trough extending along India’s western coast, continue to influence rainfall across Gujarat. Meteorological agencies have indicated that these systems are likely to maintain active monsoon conditions across the state throughout the week. Along Gujarat’s coastline, authorities have imposed precautionary restrictions at several waterfront locations in Dwarka after forecasts of unusually high waves. Weather officials have forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts in South Gujarat and Saurashtra over the next few days, with moderate rainfall also expected in Ahmedabad and neighbouring regions. A gradual decline in temperatures is likely as cloud cover becomes more widespread across the state. As monsoon activity intensifies, the Ahmedabad Monsoon Alert highlights the importance of balancing immediate public safety with long-term climate adaptation.
