Ahmedabad Oil Mill Fire Contained Before Storage Tanks Were Hit

A major fire broke out late at night in the processing tower of Tiwana Oil Mills at Kalyangadh on the Bavla-Bagodara highway in Ahmedabad district, prompting workers to flee the plant as firefighters worked to prevent the blaze from reaching large oil storage tanks.

The fire erupted inside the factory premises while operations were under way. Flames rapidly spread through the upper section of the plant’s tall processing tower, lighting up the surrounding area and sending thick black smoke into the night sky. The incident occurred in the industrial belt of Bavla taluka.

Because the oil mill has large storage tanks on its premises, the possibility of the fire spreading to the stored oil created an additional risk at the site. Workers reportedly ran towards an open area outside the plant after the factory siren sounded and the flames intensified.

The local fire department and Bagodara police station were informed after the fire was noticed. Firefighters reached the facility and used water and foam to control the blaze. The response focused on stopping the flames from spreading to other oil storage units within the complex.

According to the report, firefighters eventually brought the fire under control and prevented it from reaching the storage tanks. The timely intervention is believed to have helped avert a larger incident. The report did not state that any worker had died or provide a confirmed number of injuries.

The cause of the fire in the main processing tower was not immediately established. Factory management and police have begun an investigation into the incident, including whether any worker was injured and the extent of the financial damage caused to the company.

The fire adds to the safety risks associated with industrial facilities located along the Bavla-Bagodara highway, where factories operate alongside major road movement and nearby settlements. However, the available report does not provide details of the plant’s safety approvals, emergency response systems, inspection history or the specific equipment involved in the blaze.

The next steps will depend on the findings of the factory administration and police investigation. Authorities are expected to establish the cause of the fire, assess damage to the processing tower and confirm whether workers suffered injuries.
