Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport faced a fresh bout of schedule disruption on Tuesday, with six flights delayed and two cancelled amid operational and aircraft rotation constraints. Flights serving Chennai, Ranchi and Chandigarh were among those affected on the departure side, with delays of roughly 35 to 45 minutes. One Mumbai departure and one Mumbai arrival were cancelled. International services were also impacted, with inbound flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi arriving more than an hour behind schedule. The airport had received light to moderate rain during the early morning. However, airport officials said the weather did not affect flight operations during that period. The disruption was instead attributed to operational factors and aircraft rotation, the process through which airlines move the same aircraft between multiple destinations during a day’s schedule. That distinction is important for a growing airport such as Ahmedabad. Weather-related disruption is often visible and easier for passengers to understand.
