Delhi Traffic Alert: movement was disrupted on Monday on two important routes after sewer work in Janakpuri and metro construction between Chirag Delhi and Sheikh Sarai narrowed carriageway space, prompting the Delhi Traffic Police to advise commuters to avoid affected stretches and allow extra travel time.
Traffic on Lal Sai Marg in Janakpuri was affected by sewer work being carried out by the Delhi Jal Board. The work has disrupted and restricted movement on the route, and motorists have been advised to avoid Lal Sai Marg where possible and use alternative roads.
According to the traffic advisory reported by Jagran, vehicles travelling from Pankha Road towards Jail Road can use Najafgarh Road. Commuters travelling from Jail Road towards Pankha Road or Dwarka have been advised to use the service road and proceed via Najafgarh Road.
The second affected corridor is the road from Chirag Delhi towards Sheikh Sarai. Metro construction activity has narrowed the carriageway, slowing vehicles and reducing available road space. The disruption is particularly relevant to commuters using the corridor to reach Sheikh Sarai and nearby road connections.
Traffic movement is also being affected near the bus stand before the Sheikh Sarai red light, where buses stopping repeatedly are contributing to slower vehicle flow. Traffic personnel have been deployed at the locations and are regulating movement to keep vehicles moving.
The two disruptions show how separate utility and transport construction activities can affect road capacity on already busy urban corridors. In Janakpuri, the traffic restriction is linked to underground sewer work, while in the Chirag Delhi-Sheikh Sarai stretch, metro construction has reduced the usable carriageway. The traffic police advisory asks motorists to follow instructions from personnel deployed on site.
Commuters using either route have been advised to plan for additional journey time, avoid Lal Sai Marg where possible and select available alternative routes. The advisory also asks drivers to follow directions issued by traffic police at the affected locations while the work-related restrictions remain in place.
