Ahmedabad Recommended As Host City For 2030 Commonwealth Games
Ahmedabad: India’s sporting landscape is set for a historic milestone as Ahmedabad has been recommended as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, marking the centenary edition of the international multi-sport event. The recommendation was made by the Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport, with final approval expected from the General Assembly in November 2025.
Officials highlighted that the proposal underscores India’s commitment to fostering a vibrant sporting culture while integrating sustainability and inclusivity into major international events. The bid emphasises world-class infrastructure, urban development, and athlete-centric facilities, aligning with the ‘Games Reset’ principles that prioritise affordability, environmental responsibility, and long-term legacy.Experts from the Commonwealth Games Association noted that Ahmedabad’s selection reflects India’s growing prowess in hosting global sporting events.
