Maharashtra 217 MWp Solar Project Fully Commissioned 18 Months Early
Maharasthra’s clean energy landscape has received a significant boost as Juniper Green Energy announced the full commissioning of its 217-MWp solar project in Chapalgaon. The project, brought online 18 months ahead of schedule, underscores a major stride towards India’s renewable energy goals and a more sustainable future for its communities.
Juniper Green Energy confirmed on Friday that the entire 217-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) project is now operational, following the addition of a 71-MWp capacity. The company supplies power to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) via its subsidiary, Juniper Green Ray Two Private Limited. This accelerated execution highlights the company’s robust commitment to delivering clean energy solutions for India’s growing demands.
The project’s commissioning occurred in two phases, with 145.99 MWp initiated on May 22, 2025, and the final 71 MWp brought online on June 23, 2025. Notably, the full capacity was achieved within just four months of signing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This rapid development showcases efficient project management and deployment in the renewable energy sector, contributing to a more reliable and environmentally conscious power grid.
Juniper Green Energy’s Senior Officer, emphasised the company’s proven track record of commissioning projects ahead of schedule. The Chapalgaon project, now fully operational, stands as a testament to their ability to significantly contribute to India’s clean energy transition. This focus on utility-scale solar, wind, and hybrid renewable energy projects from their Delhi-NCR base aligns with broader sustainable development objectives.
This early completion of a major solar facility significantly strengthens Maharashtra’s renewable energy portfolio. It provides a reliable, clean power source, contributing to a greener grid and setting a precedent for accelerated sustainable development across the region.
