Rs.58,000 Crore Projects Launched in Amaravati

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for projects worth Rs 58,000 crore in Amaravati on May 2, 2025.

This initiative marks the revival of Amaravati as the state’s capital, aiming to transform it into a hub for technology, green energy, and sustainable urban development. The comprehensive plan includes 94 projects, with a substantial Rs 49,000 crore allocated to 74 major infrastructure developments in Amaravati. These encompass the construction of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, judicial residential quarters, and housing for 5,200 families. Additionally, the projects feature a 320 km transport network equipped with underground utilities and advanced flood management systems, along with 1,281 km of roads featuring central medians, cycle tracks, and integrated utilities.

A notable highlight is the establishment of the Navdurga Testing Range by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Nagayalanka, Krishna district. This state-of-the-art missile testing facility, developed at a cost of  Rs1,459 crore, is designed to enhance India’s tactical missile systems, including surface-to-air and anti-tank missiles. The Prime Minister emphasized Amaravati’s potential to become a leading city in Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Green Energy, Clean Industry, Education, and Healthcare. He assured full cooperation from the central government to transform Andhra Pradesh into a developed state, aligning with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Swarna Andhra’.

These developments are expected to rejuvenate the real estate market in the region, bringing renewed clarity and confidence among developers and investors. The projects also include the construction of a Rs 100 crore PM Unity Mall in Visakhapatnam, aimed at promoting national integration, supporting the ‘One District One Product’ initiative, and enhancing the market presence of indigenous products. The comprehensive infrastructure push signifies a commitment to sustainable and equitable urban development, aiming to create eco-friendly, gender-neutral cities that align with the broader goals of zero net carbon emissions. The revival of Amaravati stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts between the central and state governments to build a resilient and prosperous future for Andhra Pradesh.
