Hyderabad Plastic Godown Fire Spreads to Plywood Storage in Mailardevpally

A major fire broke out at a plastic godown in Hyderabad’s Mailardevpally industrial area on Sunday and spread to an adjacent plywood godown, sending thick smoke across the site and triggering panic in the surrounding area.

According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, the fire intensified rapidly after breaking out at the plastic storage facility. The flames then reached the neighbouring plywood godown, increasing the risk of the blaze spreading to other shops in the industrial area.

Fire personnel rushed to the location after receiving information about the incident and began firefighting operations. Efforts were under way to contain the flames and prevent them from reaching additional commercial premises.

The presence of plastic and plywood stored in adjoining godowns added to the immediate firefighting challenge, although the report did not provide details of the quantities stored, the layout of the premises or the safety measures in place at the site.

The incident also raised an immediate concern for people living or working near the Mailardevpally industrial area because thick smoke billowed from the godowns as the fire grew. The report did not confirm any injuries, deaths or evacuations.

The cause of the fire had not been ascertained when the report was published. The extent of damage to the plastic and plywood godowns, neighbouring shops and other property was also not immediately known.

Firefighting operations were continuing as personnel worked to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading further. Further details, including the final damage assessment and the cause of the fire, were awaited.
