Noida School Buses Trigger Jams Near Elevated Road During Pick-Up

School buses parked along the road outside Cambridge School and Vishva Bharati School in Noida are reportedly causing severe congestion near the elevated-road corridor between Atta Market and Sector 61, particularly when classes end in the afternoon.

According to a report by Navbharat Times – Noida, buses linked to Cambridge School in Sector 27 and Vishva Bharati School in the adjoining sector remain parked on both sides of the road after dropping children in the morning. The roadside parking is reported to narrow the carriageway and disrupt vehicle movement for commuters using the route.

The disruption becomes more pronounced during school dispersal, when buses arrive to collect students and children board them near the road. The report states that the movement and stopping of buses bring traffic to a standstill, with queues extending towards the elevated road connecting Atta Market and Sector 61.

The affected route is used by office workers and other daily commuters travelling between Atta and Sector 61. Residents cited in the report said the congestion occurs regularly around school closing time and can leave motorists stuck for extended periods. They attributed the problem to the absence of an organised parking and boarding arrangement for school buses.

The issue highlights the pressure created when school transport operations spill onto public roads. Unlike a short-duration traffic incident, school-bus movement is tied to fixed daily schedules, making the timing of the obstruction predictable. When multiple buses stop together outside school gates, the effect can extend beyond the immediate frontage and disrupt traffic on connecting roads and elevated corridors.

Commuters quoted by the report said school administrations should make arrangements for buses inside the school premises or otherwise prevent them from occupying the public carriageway. Their concern is not limited to delay: buses stopping on both sides of the road can reduce available space for moving vehicles and make it harder for pedestrians and other road users to pass safely during the busy dispersal period.

The report places responsibility for addressing the problem on both school administrations and traffic authorities. A workable response would require coordination over bus staging, student boarding and the timing of traffic movement, although the report does not specify that any such plan has yet been announced.

Noida residents are now seeking relief from the recurring afternoon congestion near the schools and the elevated-road approach. The next step will depend on whether the traffic police and school administrations inspect the location and establish a formal arrangement for school-bus parking and student pick-up without blocking the public road.
