Hyderabad Metro-RTC common pass prices will be sharply reduced from November 8, with the monthly pass falling from Rs. 8,500 to Rs. 4,000 and the daily pass declining from Rs. 400 to Rs. 275, Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said.
The revised passes combine travel on Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation buses. The government said the fare reduction is intended to lower commuting expenses and make public transport more affordable and accessible.
Under the revised daily pass, Rs. 200 will be allocated for Metro Rail travel and Rs. 75 for TSRTC bus services. Pass holders will be permitted to make up to four single journeys a day across the two services.
The monthly common pass will include Rs. 3,000 for Metro Rail travel and Rs. 1,000 for TSRTC bus services. It will allow holders to travel up to 50 round trips in a month. The monthly price cut represents a reduction of Rs. 4,500 from the existing fare, according to the minister.
The daily pass reduction will save users Rs. 125 compared with the current price. The revised structure gives commuters who use both bus and Metro services a single integrated option instead of paying separately for the two modes for their regular journeys.
The change is significant for Hyderabad commuters whose daily trips involve transfers between neighbourhood bus services and the Metro network. By combining the two systems under a lower-priced pass, the revised arrangement is aimed at reducing the cost of multimodal travel.
The announcement also establishes different usage limits for daily and monthly pass holders. Daily users can make up to four single journeys, while monthly users can make up to 50 round trips during the validity period. The allocation between Metro Rail and TSRTC services remains specified within the total pass prices.
The revised fares will come into effect on November 8. The government has not provided further details in the announcement on the process for purchasing the new passes or whether existing pass holders will need to shift to a revised ticketing arrangement.
