Jaipur Diwali Contest Offers Wards Development Works Worth Rs 51 Lakh

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation has announced a citywide Diwali programme that will combine decoration contests, ward-level cleanliness rewards and public events, with the top-performing ward eligible for development works worth Rs 51 lakh.

The programme, titled ‘Diwali Khushiyon Wali-2026’, will invite residents to showcase decorations at homes, markets and other establishments. Competitions will be held across seven categories, including traditional and modern residential decoration categories, commercial establishments, institutions and markets.

The residential category winners will receive prizes including electric two-wheelers, LED televisions and smartphones. The programme document, however, does not specify which prize will be awarded for each position. Winners in the commercial, institutional and market categories will receive mementoes and certificates of appreciation.

Separate competitions will be held for markets inside and outside Jaipur’s Walled City. The distinction places the city’s historic commercial areas and other markets in separate categories rather than judging them through a single competition.

The largest incentives are reserved for ward-level performance. Councillors can submit photographs showing cleanliness initiatives, innovations and other special efforts in their wards. The first-ranked ward will receive additional development works worth Rs 51 lakh, while the second- and third-ranked wards will receive works valued at Rs 31 lakh and Rs 21 lakh respectively. Wards ranked fourth to tenth will each be eligible for development works worth Rs 11 lakh.

Residents and ward representatives can register using their mobile numbers and upload live photographs through the programme portal between November 6 and 11. The corporation has said that AI-generated or edited photographs will not be accepted, making the submitted images the basis for documenting the cleanliness and improvement work being presented for evaluation.

The programme will also include a Safai Seva Marathon 2.0 on November 5. Sanitation workers, councillors and residents are expected to participate, while outstanding wards will also be rewarded as part of the civic campaign.

The schedule includes a drone show at Vidhan Sabha on November 7 at 9 pm. Fireworks are scheduled for November 8 at 9.30 pm. These public events are being organised alongside the competitions and ward-level civic activities under the broader Diwali programme.

The ward competition links festive participation with municipal development incentives, placing cleanliness, local innovation and visible civic improvements at the centre of the corporation’s campaign. The next immediate milestone is the Safai Seva Marathon on November 5, followed by the opening of registrations and photograph uploads on November 6.
