Ramgarh Solid Waste Plant Gets March Deadline After Waste Clearance

Ramgarh’s solid waste processing plant at Murramkalan has been given a March 31 completion deadline after Deputy Commissioner Rituraj inspected the site and directed the executing agency to accelerate construction. Once operational, the facility is expected to process up to 120 metric tonnes of urban waste every day from Ramgarh Nagar Parishad and Ramgarh Cantonment Board.

The deputy commissioner reviewed construction progress at the proposed facility and asked the executing agency to submit a detailed execution plan. He also directed that a boundary wall be built simultaneously with the plant, according to officials cited by the Times News Network.

The facility is being developed at the civic body’s trenching ground in Murramkalan. Officials said the site has been cleared and made ready for construction after a drive launched two months ago removed more than 42,000 metric tonnes of urban waste that had accumulated there.

The planned processing capacity is higher than the more than 100 metric tonnes of waste that the two civic bodies are expected to generate and send to the facility each day. The plant is therefore intended to serve the daily waste load of both Ramgarh Nagar Parishad and Ramgarh Cantonment Board once it becomes functional.

The accumulated waste at the trenching ground had been a major operational issue for the local civic bodies. Clearing the site has enabled construction activity to proceed, but the administration has also acknowledged the need to manage waste during the period before the plant is commissioned.

During the inspection, Rituraj asked representatives of both civic bodies to ensure proper management of daily waste until the processing facility becomes operational. The direction places responsibility on the local bodies to maintain interim arrangements while construction continues.

The plant’s progress will now depend on the execution plan sought by the deputy commissioner, construction of the boundary wall and completion of the facility by the March 31 deadline. No further operational date or details of the processing technology were provided in the report.
