Jewar Link Expressway Gets ₹2,086 Crore Contract, Work in 3 Years

The Jewar Link Expressway project has moved closer to construction after the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority awarded Afcons Infrastructure Limited a contract worth about ₹2,086 crore for the 24.5-kilometre section within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area. The six-lane road is targeted for completion in three years.

The 74.4-kilometre greenfield, access-controlled expressway will connect the Ganga Expressway in Bulandshahr with the Yamuna Expressway near Film City in YEIDA’s Sector 21. Construction will begin in the Siyana area and continue towards the Yamuna Expressway, with the route expected to provide a direct link to Noida International Airport and surrounding industrial and urban areas.

The project will be developed as a six-lane expressway, with provision for expansion to eight lanes in the future. The remaining section outside the YEIDA area will be constructed by another company, according to the report by Live Hindustan – Lucknow.

YEIDA has completed around 92 per cent of the land acquisition required for its portion of the project. The authority is negotiating with farmers to acquire the remaining land, while other options are also being considered, YEIDA chief executive officer R.K. Singh said.

“Most of the land for the link expressway has been acquired. The remaining land will also be acquired soon. Discussions are being held with farmers, and other options are also being considered,” Singh said, according to the report.

The contract awarded to Afcons covers the section that falls within the YEIDA region. S. Parmasivan, managing director of Afcons Infrastructure, said the company had prepared to complete the project within the scheduled timeframe and would begin construction soon. He said the YEIDA section would take approximately three years to complete.

Once built, the expressway is intended to connect Noida, Greater Noida, Yamuna City and nearby areas more directly with Noida International Airport. It will also link the airport and the emerging urban-industrial region to the Ganga and Yamuna expressway networks.

The project’s immediate implementation depends on completing the remaining land acquisition in the YEIDA area. The authority’s next steps are to continue negotiations with affected landowners and advance construction work on the awarded section.
