Jewar Link Expressway Gets ₹2,086-Crore Contract, 3-Year Target

The Jewar Link Expressway has moved closer to construction after the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority awarded Afcons Infrastructure Limited a contract worth about ₹2,086 crore for the 24.5-kilometre section within its area. The six-lane, access-controlled greenfield corridor is targeted for completion in three years and will connect the Ganga and Yamuna expressways in western Uttar Pradesh.

The YEIDA section will begin near the Siyana area of Bulandshahr, where the expressway will connect with the Ganga Expressway, and will end near the Film City in Sector 21 of the YEIDA region, where it will meet the Yamuna Expressway. The full Jewar Link Expressway will cover 74.4 kilometres.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority has issued the tender for the YEIDA-area package to Afcons Infrastructure. A second company will construct the remaining section of the corridor. The expressway is planned as a six-lane road, with provision for expansion to eight lanes in the future.

YEIDA has completed about 92% of the land acquisition required for the section under its jurisdiction, according to the report. The authority is continuing discussions with farmers to acquire the remaining land and is also considering other options, said R K Singh, chief executive officer of the Yamuna development authority.

The project is intended to create a direct connection between Noida International Airport and major expressways, industrial areas and planned urban districts in the region. Once operational, the corridor is expected to provide a more direct route for travellers from Noida, Greater Noida, Yamuna City and nearby areas heading to the airport. It will also link two major east-west transport corridors in Uttar Pradesh.

The project’s alignment places it within a fast-developing urban and industrial belt. The Yamuna Expressway already connects the National Capital Region with destinations including Agra, while the Ganga Expressway is being developed as a major east-west route across Uttar Pradesh. The link road is designed to connect these corridors near a cluster of new urban, industrial and airport-related developments.

S Paramashivan, managing director of Afcons Infrastructure, said the company had prepared to complete the project within the stipulated period and would begin construction soon. He said the YEIDA section would take about three years to complete.

The immediate construction schedule will depend on the completion of the remaining land acquisition and the mobilisation of the awarded contractor. YEIDA has said that the balance land will be acquired soon, with discussions with affected farmers continuing. The authority has not announced a separate completion date for the entire 74.4-kilometre corridor in the supplied report.
