The Pune Municipal Corporation has approved a ₹1.99 crore CCTV expansion project for its municipal schools, with additional cameras, electrical connections and network infrastructure scheduled to be installed within eight months.
The standing committee has accepted the tender of iSecure IT Private Limited for the work, which is intended to strengthen surveillance across school premises and improve the administration’s ability to monitor student movement. Standing committee chairperson Shrinath Bhimale announced the decision at a press conference.
The approved project is valued at ₹1,99,55,637, including Goods and Services Tax. It will cover the installation of CCTV cameras along with digital video recorders, copper wiring, network cables, HDMI cables, network switches, electrical connections and other required equipment.
The expansion is being undertaken through the civic body’s electrical department, which prepared an estimate incorporating the equipment and technical facilities required for the surveillance system. The department then invited tenders for the work. Four companies participated in the process, of which three were found technically eligible and one was disqualified.
Among the eligible bidders, iSecure IT Private Limited quoted 0.22 per cent below the estimated rate. J.D. Enterprises and Nikhil Networks submitted bids at the estimated rate. The civic body therefore selected iSecure IT as the lowest bidder. The company has submitted the required bank guarantee as performance security, according to the information released by the municipal administration.
The project places the surveillance system within a broader municipal responsibility: school safety will depend not only on cameras but also on the electrical supply, network connectivity, recording equipment and the civic department’s ability to maintain and operate the system. The approved scope includes these supporting components rather than cameras alone.
The municipal administration has said that the expansion will make the existing CCTV-based monitoring arrangement in civic schools more effective. However, the information released by the civic body does not specify the number of schools or additional cameras covered by the contract, nor does it detail the period for which recordings will be retained or the personnel responsible for reviewing footage.
Funding for the project has been provided for in the Pune Municipal Corporation’s 2026-27 budget. The electrical department will be responsible for ensuring that the work is implemented according to the approved technical standards. The selected contractor is expected to complete the expansion within eight months, marking the next stated milestone for the project.
