Delhi Rally Security Tightened With 4,000 Personnel and 200 Cameras

Delhi Police has deployed more than 4,000 personnel, Central Armed Police Force companies, drones and over 200 CCTV cameras for the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan, as authorities prepare to manage an expected crowd of up to 40,000 people on Sunday.

The rally has been permitted from 10am to 5pm. Police have divided the venue into 14 zones, with each zone to be monitored by an assistant commissioner of police-rank officer. Two zones will be supervised by officers at the additional deputy commissioner level, according to Live Hindustan – NCR.

Security arrangements cover both Ramlila Maidan and the route from Minto Bridge to the event venue. Senior police officers inspected Minto Road and Ramlila Maidan on Saturday, including Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, special commissioners, joint commissioners and deputy commissioners of police from the Central and New Delhi districts.

The venue will have a dedicated control room to coordinate surveillance and the deployment of security personnel. Police said more than 200 cameras would monitor crowd movement, entry and exit points and activity across the ground. Drones will provide aerial surveillance, while personnel equipped with body-worn cameras will also be deployed.

Authorities estimate that the open ground could accommodate between 45,000 and 50,000 people. After accounting for chairs, barricades and designated movement routes, however, the police expect the gathering to remain between 30,000 and 40,000 people. The difference reflects the operational limits created by crowd-management infrastructure rather than the physical capacity of the site alone.

The security plan also includes riot-control vehicles and other surveillance equipment for responding to any untoward incident. Police personnel have been instructed to check people entering the venue and prevent the entry of criminal elements, the report said.

The deployment comes as the duration of 270 CAPF companies called to Delhi in connection with protests in recent days has been extended for a third time, until November 16. This places the rally within a broader period of heightened security coordination across the capital, requiring police units to manage both the event and wider city responsibilities.

Police have asked the organisers to deploy volunteers for crowd control and drinking-water arrangements. The announced measures will remain focused on the venue, the approach route and the coordination of security forces during the permitted rally hours.
