Delhi Rally Route Draws Heavy Security Ahead of November 1 March

The Delhi rally organised by the INDIA bloc will begin at noon on Sunday, 1 November, from the Minto Road junction near Connaught Place and proceed through Ajmeri Gate to Ramlila Maidan, with Delhi Police preparing heightened security along the route.

The route was shared by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in a post on X. His message invited people to join the march under the hashtag #ChaloDilli and identified the three points on the route: Minto Road junction, Ajmeri Gate and Ramlila Maidan.

The planned movement places a major central Delhi corridor under additional security and crowd-management requirements. According to Jagran’s report, senior Delhi Police officers inspected the route on Saturday, including the Special Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioners of Police for Central and New Delhi districts, and a Joint Commissioner of Police.

The inspection covered the stretch from Minto Road to Ramlila Maidan ahead of the rally. The police review comes as authorities prepare for a large gathering in an area where road movement, pedestrian access and security operations converge around key central Delhi junctions.

Delhi Police is also monitoring claims circulating on social media about the rally. The report said the department’s social media team was checking different claims and narratives connected with the event. This gives the police a parallel communications responsibility alongside physical security: officials must manage the crowd at the venue and route while responding to information that may affect public movement or security perceptions.

The rally venue has also faced local ground conditions following two days of rain in Delhi. Jagran reported waterlogging at several locations inside Ramlila Maidan, creating difficulties for people involved in preparations. The report did not specify whether the waterlogging had been cleared or what additional arrangements were being made at the venue before the gathering.

The selected route links a major commercial and transport district around Connaught Place with the historic central Delhi venue through Ajmeri Gate. Any large organised movement along this corridor requires coordination between police units responsible for security, district authorities managing access and traffic personnel handling road movement. The report confirms the police inspection but does not provide details of traffic diversions, road closures, parking restrictions or public transport changes.

For residents, commuters and visitors, the immediate operational issue is the effect of the march and gathering on movement through Minto Road, Ajmeri Gate and roads adjoining Ramlila Maidan. The police preparations indicate that security arrangements will cover both the rally site and the route used by participants, although the specific deployment plan and commuter advisories were not included in the report.

The event is scheduled to start at 12 noon on 1 November. Delhi Police’s route inspection and continuing review of social media claims are the latest preparations publicly reported ahead of the rally.
