Patiala Approves Dedicated Cycling Corridor for Eco-Friendly Transport

The District Administration of Patiala has approved a dedicated cycling corridor to promote a walkable and cycle-friendly city. The 1.2 km-long bicycle track will run from Theekriwala Chowk to Yadvindra Public School.

Bunge Enterprises has been engaged to set up the dedicated cycle track on the road. The project aims to encourage the use of bicycles as an environment-friendly mode of transportation and is being launched as a pilot project. By encouraging people to walk or cycle to their places of work, shopping and studies, the project aims to make the city more walkable and eco-friendly while also helping individuals save money.

The laying of cones and chains on the cycle track will be carried out soon. This initiative is part of a larger effort to create more cycling infrastructure in India, as the Central government has recently released guidelines to scale up cycling infrastructure across the country. Patiala’s dedicated cycling corridor is expected to promote a healthier lifestyle for residents, reduce traffic congestion and lower carbon emissions.
