Welspun Corp has secured an order worth approximately ₹5,500 crore from a major US midstream company to supply coated line pipes for a natural gas pipeline in the Permian region, taking the Indian manufacturer’s global order book to a record $5.25 billion, or around ₹50,000 crore.
The company disclosed the contract in an exchange filing on Friday. The order was won by Welspun Tubular LLC, Welspun Corp’s US subsidiary, and will be executed from its US facility during financial year 2028-29.
The pipeline is expected to supply natural gas to an anchor customer that is a data centre complex operated by one of the world’s top-tier hyperscalers, according to the filing. The company did not disclose the customer’s identity or the capacity of the pipeline.
The contract connects the pipeline manufacturing business to the infrastructure requirements of expanding data-centre operations. Natural gas pipelines form part of the energy supply network for facilities that require continuous power and supporting utility systems, although the filing did not provide details on the data centre’s location, power demand or commissioning schedule.
The latest order lifts Welspun Corp’s order book to its highest level. The company’s US subsidiary had secured an order worth approximately $412.5 million in September for high-frequency induction welded pipes. Those pipes are to be manufactured at the company’s upgraded facility in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In August, Welspun Corp announced what it described as its largest-ever single order, worth around $1.8 billion, for pipe supplies from its US manufacturing facility. That order was scheduled for execution across FY28 and FY29, indicating that the company’s recent contract wins will be delivered over multiple financial years rather than in a single production cycle.
The new order is also scheduled for FY29 execution, making the availability and utilisation of Welspun’s US manufacturing capacity important to delivery. The company has not disclosed the contract’s detailed production schedule, pipeline length, pipe volumes or the commercial terms beyond the approximate order value.
Welspun Corp’s announcement comes as demand for energy infrastructure linked to large-scale digital facilities becomes a significant requirement for developers and operators. In this contract, however, the company has identified the end-use customer only as a major hyperscaler and has not named the data-centre complex or the midstream company.
The next stated milestone is execution of the coated line-pipe supply order from Welspun Tubular LLC’s US facility during FY29.
