Bengaluru Postal Insurance Services Face Four-Day Disruption

Bengaluru postal insurance services will be disrupted from October 22 to 25 across the Bengaluru General Post Office’s jurisdiction as the department replaces its existing software with a new Insurance Management Solution. Services are scheduled to resume on October 26 under the new system.

The transition affects policyholders of Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI). During the four-day period, customers will not be able to access new policy services, premium collection, loan repayment and other related services at several sub-post offices in Bengaluru.

According to a notice issued by the chief postmaster, the existing Maccamish software is being replaced with the Insurance Management Solution to provide improved services to PLI and RPLI policyholders. The department has asked customers to cooperate until the new software becomes operational.

The temporary suspension covers sub-post offices located in Arabic College, Banaswadi, CMM Court Complex, CMP School, Dr Ambedkar Street, Shivaram Karanth Nagar, High Court, Fraser Town, HKP Road, Horamavu, Jalavayuvihar, Kalyananagar, Kothanur, Legislators’ Home, Lingarajapuram, Maruthi Seva Nagar, Museum Road, Raj Bhavan, Shivajinagar? No, source says Shivanshetty Garden, St Thomas Town, Vasanthnagar and Vidhana Soudha. The affected offices fall within the Bengaluru GPO’s service area.

The listed locations include government, institutional, residential and commercial areas, meaning policyholders who normally use these branches for insurance-related transactions will need to account for the interruption. The notice does not state that all postal operations across Bengaluru will stop; it specifically identifies PLI and RPLI services at the named sub-post offices as unavailable during the software changeover.

Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance customers use post offices for transactions including policy purchases, premium payments and loan-related repayments. The four-day interruption therefore concerns routine financial and administrative services linked to existing insurance policies, rather than a general closure of the identified post offices.

The Bengaluru GPO has scheduled the new Insurance Management Solution to become operational from October 26. The notice does not provide further details on the software’s technical features, the reason for replacing Maccamish or whether any alternative service channel will be available during the transition. Customers in the affected areas have been advised to cooperate until the upgrade is completed.
