Mumbai, India – The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a notice informing residents of South Mumbai about an impending 19-hour water supply disruption. The disruption is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 10:00 PM to Friday, September 27, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
The cause of the water cut is essential repair work on the 1,450 mm diameter Tansa (East) water channel, located at Senapati Bapat Marg in the G North Division. This critical maintenance is expected to impact water availability in several areas of the G South and G North divisions. The BMC has urged residents in the affected areas to be prepared for either complete or partial water cuts during this period. The municipal body has also appealed to citizens to store sufficient water and use it sparingly to minimize the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
The areas that will be affected by the water supply disruption include:
G South:
- Curry Road
- Sakharam Bala Pawar Marg
- Mahadev Palav Marg
- Lower Parel
- Delisle Road
- BDD Chawl
G North:
- Prabhadevi
- Adarsh Nagar
- P. Balu Marg
- Hatiskar Marg
- Marathe Marg
- Pandurang Budhkar Marg
- Senapati Bapat Marg
- N. M. Joshi Marg
- Ganpatrao Kadam Marg
While certain areas in G South will experience complete water supply cuts, others in G North will face a 33 percent reduction in water supply during specific time periods. The BMC has emphasized the importance of storing adequate water in advance and using it judiciously during the repair period. By taking these precautions, residents can mitigate the impact of the water disruption and ensure a smoother transition.
