NH-65 Expansion Gets November Tender Deadline, Work Set for 2027

The National Highways Authority of India has set November 11 as the deadline for tenders for the proposed six-laning of NH-65 between Hyderabad and Vijayawada, with construction expected to begin in January 2027, Telangana roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said after meeting senior NHAI officials in New Delhi.

The minister met NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav and member (projects) Vipnesh Sharma to press for faster implementation of the expansion. He asked the authority to accelerate the tendering process and begin construction at the earliest, citing rising congestion and frequent accidents on the Hyderabad–Machilipatnam stretch of the highway.

The project involves expanding the existing four-lane highway to six lanes, along with service roads on both sides and controlled-access facilities. According to the minister, the planned works are intended to improve traffic movement, reduce travel time and strengthen road safety along the corridor.

NH-65 is an important transport link connecting Hyderabad with Vijayawada and onward routes towards Machilipatnam. The corridor serves daily commuters and motorists travelling between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, while also supporting the movement of goods and commercial traffic between the two states.

Komatireddy said the highway’s growing traffic and accident record made the expansion a priority. He urged NHAI to keep commuter safety central to the project and avoid further delays in moving from tendering to construction.

The NHAI chairman responded positively to the request and assured the minister that construction would commence by January 2027, according to the minister’s account of the meeting. The November 11 tender deadline is the next formal milestone identified for the project.

The minister also said the state government would maintain coordination with central agencies to support timely execution and completion. The supplied report does not provide the project’s estimated cost, construction length, package structure or expected completion date.
