Chennai power shutdowns have been scheduled across Velachery, Porur, Ponneri, Puzhal, Besant Nagar, the IT Corridor and other parts of the city on Wednesday, September 30, with electricity supply expected to remain suspended from 9 am to 2 pm for maintenance works, DT Next reported.
The power supply is expected to be restored before 2 pm if the scheduled works are completed early. The shutdown will affect residential streets, apartment complexes, commercial establishments, hospitals and other facilities across nine locations listed by the electricity authorities.
In Velachery, the affected locations include Rettai Pillaiyar Koil Street, Anna Street, Bharathi Street, the San Academy area, VOC Nagar first to fourth streets, Jhoshna Flats, Srinivasa Nagar, Devi Flats, Murugu Nagar, Gomathy Nagar and Jain Flats.
In Porur, supply will be suspended in Kovoor Ambal Nagar, Ram Nagar, Anna Street, Kangachi Street, Aananda Vinayagar Street, Kundrathur Main Road and Ambedkar Street. In Ponneri, the affected areas include Thervoykandigai and SIPCOT, Gopal Reddy Kandigai, Pollanur, Puthunagar, Karadiputhur, Buthur, NM Kandigai, Kannankottai, Panchallai, Amarambedu, Agragaram, Thanipoondi, Periyapuliyur and Siruvada, along with surrounding areas.
The Puzhal areas named in the schedule are Theeyabakkam, Kosapur, Ambedkar Nagar, Thiyagi Viswanathadass Nagar, Periyar Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Sendrampakkam, Kanam Palaiyam, Bose Nagar and New Anna Nagar. In Besant Nagar, the shutdown will cover 4th Main Road, 32nd to 35th Cross Street, 3rd Avenue, 5th Avenue, Alcott Kuppam Road, Tiruvalluvar Nagar, Bajanai Kovil Street and Urur Ellaiamman Kovil Street.
The schedule also covers parts of the IT Corridor, including Subramanian Street, Venkateshwara Nagar, Chandrasekar Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Sai Baba Nagar, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Kannadasan Nagar, Bharma Colony first to fourth streets, the Neurology Hospital area, Maruti Suzuki Showroom, GM Tex Square, Kottivakkam, KPK Nagar, Annai Sathya Nagar, Ramaniyam, ELCOT Road, Model School Road and Kumarasamy Nagar.
In Nanganallur, the listed areas include BV Nagar, Nehru High Road, Hindu Colony, SBI Colony Main Road, NGO Colony, KK Nagar, Nanganallur first to fifth main roads, Nanganallur 18th, 23rd and 43rd to 45th streets, Ullagaram, Nehru Colony, Lakshmi Nagar and Jayanthi Nagar. The shutdown will also affect Korattur TVS Nagar, Kandigai Street, Annai Nagar Main Road and Padmavathy Nagar in Ambattur.
Moovarasampet areas listed in the notice include Pantaloons, Porunthavakkam, Sath Sangam Street, James Street, Gopal Street, Nehru Street, Anna Street, Ganesh Mahal, Koot Road, Senthuran Colony, Indian Bank, Kavitha Textile, Raghava Nagar, Saraswathi Street, Defence Colony, KFC and Raghava Nagar 2nd Main Road.
Residents, offices and establishments in the listed areas will need to make arrangements for the scheduled five-hour interruption. DT Next reported that supply will be restored before 2 pm if the maintenance works are completed ahead of schedule.
