Billtrust has inaugurated its global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad with a commitment to invest ₹450 crore and build a 1,000-member team over the next three years, strengthening the city’s position as a destination for technology, artificial intelligence and global business operations.
The facility was inaugurated by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Billtrust CEO Grant Halloran. The company, described as a B2B cash generation platform, said the centre marks the formal establishment of its India operations.
The new Hyderabad GCC spans 40,000 sq. ft. and currently has capacity for up to 250 employees. Billtrust said its India operations had already grown to 100 employees within six months under the leadership of Farhad H. Baria, the company’s country head for India GCC.
The company’s three-year investment commitment is intended to support the development of an engineering, AI and operations hub in Telangana. Billtrust said the planned 1,000-member workforce would further contribute to Hyderabad’s role as a hub for technology, innovation and global capability centres.
At the inauguration, Mr. Sridhar Babu highlighted Hyderabad’s talent base and said the city had no shortage of skilled professionals. He encouraged Billtrust to use the support available through T-Hub and the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge, or TASK. “Telangana will be a partner in your progress,” he said.
The minister’s assurance reflects the state government’s stated approach of supporting companies as they expand their technology operations in Telangana. For Billtrust, the proposed growth will require the company to scale beyond the current facility capacity over the next three years as it moves towards its planned 1,000-member workforce.
Mr. Halloran said Hyderabad offered deep technical talent, strong infrastructure and a government that partners with industry. The company’s initial expansion will focus on building capabilities across engineering, artificial intelligence and operations, according to the company release cited in the report.
The announcement adds to Hyderabad’s continuing expansion as a location for GCCs, which bring together technology, product development, finance, operations and other functions serving multinational businesses. In this case, the immediate urban impact is linked to the creation of a new employment base, demand for specialised talent and the use of the city’s existing innovation and skills institutions.
Billtrust’s next stated milestone is the expansion of its India GCC towards a 1,000-member team over the next three years, supported by the pledged ₹450-crore investment and continued cooperation from the Telangana government.
