New Noida land acquisition is expected to begin from October, with the Noida Authority planning camps inside villages so farmers can complete the process locally instead of travelling to the authority’s offices. The authority is also preparing to open a new office in the project area, according to Live Hindustan – NCR.
The camps will facilitate the acquisition of land through mutual consent between the authority and landowners. Officials have started discussions with village heads and residents before the process begins. A meeting was held last week at the authority’s Sector 96 office with representatives and residents from around 15 villages, led by Additional Chief Executive Officer Pushparaj Singh.
Farmers were informed that the Uttar Pradesh government is expected to approve the compensation rates by the end of September. The rates have already been approved by the Noida Authority board. Once the government clears them, the authority will establish camps in the villages and begin the land acquisition process through mutual agreement.
The authority said farmers would not need to travel to Noida for work related to handing over land or receiving compensation. Officials will visit the villages to support the process. Lekhpals are currently collecting data related to khasra and khatauni records from the tehsils connected to the villages included in the New Noida plan.
However, compensation remains a point of disagreement. Farmers told officials during the meeting that they were not prepared to surrender their land at the rates approved by the authority and demanded an increase in compensation. The final terms will also differ across the project’s planned phases because the villages are located near different existing development zones.
New Noida is planned across 80 villages in Dadri and Bulandshahr and will be developed in four phases. The first phase covers 3,165 hectares and is targeted for completion by 2027. The second phase will cover 3,798 hectares and is scheduled for 2032. The third phase will cover 5,908 hectares and is planned for 2037, while the fourth phase will cover 8,230 hectares and is targeted for completion by 2041.
The first and second phases are adjacent to the Greater Noida area. Farmers in these villages are expected to receive compensation equivalent to the Greater Noida rate along with plots measuring 6% of the acquired land under the authority’s stated provision. The villages in the third and fourth phases are close to the Yamuna area, where the authority has proposed compensation aligned with the Yamuna region and plots equivalent to 7% of the acquired land.
Noida Authority Officer on Special Duty Harshita Tiwari said preparations were under way to set up the village camps from October. She said the compensation rates had been decided by the board and that the acquisition process would begin after approval from the state government.
