Greater Noida West Traffic Relief Nears as U-Turn, Underpass Near Completion

Greater Noida West residents could see traffic relief between Gaur Chowk and Tigri this month as a new U-turn and widened service roads approach completion, while the underpass at Char Murti Chowk is being prepared for opening before Diwali.

The U-turn is being built on the 60-metre-wide road between Char Murti Chowk and Tigri. Service roads on both sides are also being widened to improve vehicle movement along the congested stretch. According to officials, the work is expected to be completed within the next few days.

Senior manager Prabhat Shankar said the U-turn and service-road work was nearing completion. A tree located along the U-turn alignment has been relocated, after which the facility will be opened to traffic, the report said.

The new U-turn is being constructed near Khajoor Chowk, before the Tigri roundabout. It is expected to benefit residents of Gaur City and more than 20 surrounding housing societies, particularly those travelling to and from Gaur City-2. At present, motorists have to travel to the Tigri roundabout to make the turn, adding to congestion around the junction.

The underpass at Char Murti Chowk has also reached its final stage, officials said. Construction work has been completed, while finishing work and the installation of sheds at the entry and exit points are under way. The facility will be opened after a trial run, with preparations under way to make it operational by Diwali.

The projects are part of a broader effort to manage rising traffic pressure in Greater Noida West, where rapid residential development has increased demand on the main road network. Alongside road widening, authorities are constructing U-turns at locations where traffic diversions and roundabouts have contributed to delays.

More than five U-turns have already been completed in the area, including two between Gaur Chowk and Iteda roundabout, two between Iteda and Ek Murti roundabout, and one between Ek Murti and Roza roundabout. Four other U-turns had been built earlier, according to the report.

Road repair work is also being carried out on routes from Rise Police Chowki to the Jalpura Cut roundabout and along stretches near Samriddhi Grand Avenue, Sarvottam School, Cherry County and Techzone 4.

Greater Noida Chief Executive Officer Ravi Kumar NG said the main roads were being widened to address traffic congestion. He said the widening of the service roads and construction of the U-turn between Gaur Chowk and Tigri would be completed soon, while the Char Murti Chowk underpass was in its final phase. The U-turn is expected to open after the remaining work is completed, and the underpass will follow testing before being opened to vehicles.
