Hyderabad rains caused waterlogging and traffic disruption across several parts of the city on the morning of Ganesh Chaturthi, after heavy showers and thunderstorms continued through the night. Officials were working to clear inundated roads and restore normal traffic movement, while the Hyderabad Traffic Police advised commuters to exercise caution.
Rainfall intensity had gradually decreased across North and Central Hyderabad since 7 am, but attention shifted towards East Hyderabad, where light to moderate rain was expected to continue until around 8 am, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
Massive thunderstorms were reported in Qutbullapur, Balanagar, Alwal, Gajularamaram, Kukatpally, Gachibowli, Miyapur, Patancheru, Manikonda, Shaikpet, Ameerpet, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills and Begumpet.
Several areas also experienced dense fog during the early hours. The affected locations included Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Panjagutta, Begumpet, Film Nagar, Madhapur, Manikonda, Shaikpet, Miyapur, LB Nagar, Dilsukhnagar, Koti, Abids, Lakdikapool, Nampally, Secunderabad, Nagole, Uppal and Hayathnagar.
The combination of rain, fog and waterlogged roads created difficult conditions for commuters travelling during the morning period. Traffic movement was expected to remain slow at several locations as water was cleared and visibility remained reduced in some areas.
The traffic police asked motorists to drive carefully and account for possible delays caused by waterlogging. Officials continued efforts to remove accumulated water from roads and restore normal movement across the affected parts of Hyderabad.
