Delhi weather is expected to turn more comfortable over the next three days, with light rain or drizzle forecast across parts of the National Capital Region even as humidity remains high in the immediate term, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 35.1°C at Safdarjung on Sunday, 1.3°C above normal. The minimum temperature was 26.2°C, which was 1.1°C higher than normal. Strong sunshine, high moisture levels and intermittent cloud cover contributed to conditions that residents experienced as considerably hotter.
The weather department has forecast cloudy skies and light rain with thunder and lightning in some parts of Delhi during the morning on Monday, September 14. Light showers are also possible from afternoon to evening. The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 32°C and 34°C.
Light rain is likely to continue in isolated parts of Delhi-NCR on September 15 and 16, with partly cloudy conditions expected at intervals. On September 15, the maximum temperature in Delhi is forecast to be around 31°C to 33°C. The forecast indicates that showers are most likely from the morning to the afternoon on both days.
The weather department has not forecast rain in Delhi-NCR from September 17. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C from September 16 to 18, before rising to between 34°C and 36°C on September 19.
The forecast also points to continued discomfort from humidity over the next two to three days as south-easterly winds persist across the region. A change in wind direction from September 18 is expected to gradually reduce humidity, although the accompanying rise in temperatures could continue to affect outdoor conditions.
The forecast period covers the start of the working week, when changing rain conditions may affect daily travel and outdoor activity across Delhi-NCR. The next significant change identified by the weather department is the expected shift in wind direction from September 18.
