Ganesh Pandal Safety Rules Issued in Telangana’s Chevella

Chevella Deputy Commissioner of Police Yogesh Gautam has issued safety, traffic and public-convenience guidelines for Ganesh pandal organisers in Telangana, asking them to secure the required permissions and register event details through the designated state police portal.

The instructions cover the registration of pandals, idols and immersion arrangements. Organisers have also been asked to obtain approvals from the concerned departments before beginning celebrations. The police directions are intended to regulate the installation of pandals, movement around them and the arrangements for idol immersion.

Gautam stressed the need for safe electrical wiring, fire-safety arrangements, CCTV cameras and emergency exits at every pandal. Organisers were also asked to deploy volunteers to assist with crowd management and respond to situations that may affect public convenience or safety.

The police said pandals must not obstruct traffic. The guidelines also call for special attention to the safety of women, children and senior citizens attending or passing through the venues. Organisers have been directed to use sound systems within permissible limits, with loudspeakers prohibited after 10 pm. DJs have also been barred from being installed at Ganesh pandals.

Immersion processions will have to follow the routes and timings prescribed by the police. The directions place responsibility on organisers to ensure that processions do not deviate from the approved arrangements or create avoidable disruption on roads and in public areas.

Each pandal must maintain a point book with proper entries, according to the instructions. Organisers have also been told to immediately report any suspicious person or object to the police or through Dial 100. The reporting requirement forms part of the security arrangements expected to be maintained at the temporary festival sites.

Gautam assured organisers that the police would provide the necessary bandobast during the celebrations and sought their cooperation in implementing the guidelines. The instructions put permissions, electrical and fire safety, surveillance, emergency access, sound restrictions and immersion management within a single compliance framework for pandals in the Chevella area.
