The Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation has introduced a single-window system for public Ganeshotsav mandap permissions, allowing festival committees to apply online and receive approvals from multiple civic and public-safety departments through one portal. The facility is being offered without a fee ahead of the festival.
Public Ganeshotsav committees in different parts of Vasai-Virar require several permissions before setting up mandaps and holding celebrations. These permissions are linked to civic safety and involve departments responsible for policing, traffic management, electricity and fire safety. The municipal corporation said the new process is intended to bring these approvals together instead of requiring organisers to visit separate offices.
Applicants can submit their requests through the municipal portal at https://mandap.onlinevvcmc.in/. After an application is filed, the corporation will conduct a preliminary review and forward it through the portal to the police department, traffic control branch, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited and the fire brigade for further action.
The final online permission will be issued to the Ganeshotsav committee after the relevant permissions and no-objection certificates are received from the concerned departments. The municipal corporation said applicants will not be charged any fee for the process.
According to the civic body, an online facility for mandap permissions has been available since last year. More than 450 committees in the city received permissions through the online portal during the previous cycle. The corporation said the single-window arrangement would allow committees to obtain the required permissions through one system.
The move follows directions issued by the state government for coordinating permissions for public Ganeshotsav celebrations. By routing applications to the police, traffic, electricity and fire departments, the system places the inter-departmental approval process on a common digital platform, while retaining the requirement for clearances from each relevant authority.
The corporation has appealed to Ganeshotsav committees to obtain formal permission before holding celebrations. The municipal process will continue through the online portal, with applications subject to preliminary scrutiny and subsequent action by the concerned departments.
