YTPS Chief Engineer Suspended as Power Project Oversight Comes Under Scrutiny

Yadadri Thermal Power Station Chief Engineer B Suresh has been suspended with immediate effect pending a departmental enquiry into alleged negligence and supervisory lapses in planning, monitoring and executing works linked to improving power generation at the Telangana project.

The suspension order was issued after the alleged lapses came to light during review meetings, according to Dr S. Harish, Chairman and Managing Director of TGGENCO. The order described Suresh’s conduct as gross negligence in the discharge of his duties as Chief Engineer, YTPS (Construction), Stage-I.

The allegations relate to the officer’s responsibilities for prioritised works at the thermal power station. The order said the lapses affected the planning, monitoring and execution of those works, and described the alleged acts as amounting to gross misconduct under the APSEB Employees’ Discipline and Appeal Regulations.

Suresh will remain suspended while the departmental enquiry is conducted. During the suspension period, he will be eligible for a subsistence allowance under Regulation 56(1)(a) of the APSEB Service Regulations, Part-I, as adopted, subject to the required conditions.

The order requires him to submit a certificate confirming that he is not employed elsewhere during the period of suspension. The certificate must be produced every month to the Chairman and Managing Director of TGGENCO for payment of the allowance.

His headquarters during the suspension will be YTPS (Construction) at Dameracherla. He has also been directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.

The action places the execution and supervision of prioritised works at one of Telangana’s major power-generation facilities under departmental review. The order does not establish the final findings against Suresh; those will depend on the outcome of the departmental enquiry.
