Pune, April 17, 2024 The imminent opening of Yerawada Metro Station is on the horizon, with confirmation from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) that operations are slated to commence in May.
Announced by Maha Metro officials, significant progress has been made in the completion of entry and exit points at the station, signalling the final stages of construction. With a deadline set for the conclusion of construction by the end of April, meticulous scrutiny and finalisation of entry and exit points are underway. Maha Metro representatives have underscored their commitment to expedite the construction process, aiming for completion by the month’s end. Subsequently, the CMRS team is expected to be invited for thorough verification and approval procedures in May, ensuring compliance with stringent safety protocols before the station is accessible to the public.
Earlier concerns voiced by Yerawada residents regarding the safety and functionality of entry and exit points prompted intervention by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Acting swiftly, the PMC advocated for the reconstruction of these critical elements, addressing community apprehensions and prioritising safety standards. In a parallel development, Maha Metro has sought authorisation from Pune Railway Authorities to install a self-service electronic ticket dispenser at Platform Number One’s entrance. This proposed ticket kiosk aims to enhance operational efficiency by streamlining ticket sales processes, presenting a modern alternative to conventional ticket counters. As anticipation builds for the operational debut of Yerawada Metro Station, stakeholders remain poised to witness the realisation of enhanced connectivity and commuter convenience within Pune’s burgeoning metro network.
