YEIDA Link Road to Improve Airport Access for 13 Sectors

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has begun acquiring land for a 5-km link road between Sector 22E and Phaileda Cut, a move aimed at improving access to Noida International Airport for 13 planned sectors on the eastern side of the Yamuna Expressway.

The proposed road will connect the 120-metre-wide road in Sector 22E with the airport connectivity corridor of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Phaileda Cut. YEIDA said the link is expected to benefit residents, students, workers and businesses in sectors that are being developed for residential, industrial and institutional use.

Sector 22E is designated as an institutional zone, where several private universities and educational institutions are being developed. The planned road is also expected to improve movement between residential and industrial areas within YEIDA’s jurisdiction by creating a direct connection towards the airport corridor.

“Land is being acquired for the road. Once it is completed, the industrial, institutional and residential sectors on the eastern side will have better connectivity to Noida International Airport,” Rajendra Bhati, general manager (planning), YEIDA, said, according to the report.

The road network around the proposed link is being developed in stages. An existing 120-metre-wide road is planned to run from the Salapur underpass towards the proposed Khurja-Palwal Expressway. Around 8 km of this road between the Salapur underpass and Sector 22E has already been constructed, but land disputes have left some stretches incomplete.

YEIDA is working to complete those pending sections while pursuing land acquisition for the additional road towards Phaileda Cut. The proposed connection is expected to improve access to Sectors 24, 24A, 25, 22A to 22F and 23A to 23E, linking these areas more directly with the airport connectivity corridor.

The authority is also planning connections between its 120-metre-wide and 130-metre-wide roads and the Khurja-Palwal Expressway. These links are intended to strengthen peripheral connectivity and facilitate movement between sectors across the region.

The project’s immediate implementation depends on the land acquisition process and the completion of pending sections affected by disputes. YEIDA’s next steps are to acquire the required land, finish the incomplete stretches and advance the proposed link towards Phaileda Cut.
